Born in Newark, New Jersey, Cornelious found her voice at the age of three. In addition to her being an active member of her church and school choir, Cornelious performed in family talent shows where her Gospel, R&B, Doo Wop, Blues, and poetry skills were displayed.

Cornelious graduated from Hampton University with a degree in business. She didn’t believe she could pursue a career in entertainment but after feeling unsatisfied as a sales representative for a major corporation she eventually decided to explore music.

The BET Jazz Vocal Discovery Award was a turning point for Cornelious’ career. She was given a 30 minute segment on BET Jazz. Other awards include: The Jazz Composer Fellowship Award The Indie Award The Lionel Hampton Jazz Performance Award The Russian Jazz Performance Award Cornelious earned her degree in Music and Jazz Performance from North Carolina Central University. Among her other awards, she has been appointed the first jazz vocal teacher in North Carolina at East Carolina University.
