Vahagn Hayrapetyan and Daniel Kramer - "Live in Ekaterinburg"

 

Vahagn Hayrapetyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia on August 30, 1968. Graduated from the music school after P.I. Tchaikovsky and Yerevan State Conservatory as pianist and composer. Vahagn's exceptional manner of playing has evolved for years - carried away with jazz in his early years, he learnt from such jazz be - bop legends as Barry Harris and Frank Hewitt in New York and worked and share stages with many legendary jazz musicians,such as Elvin Jones,Jimmie Lovelace , Charles Davis,Leroy Williams,Ari Roland,Zaid Nasser, Chris Byears, Yaala Baalin, Keith Baala, Jason and Delfeo Marsalis and many more. He recorded and released three albums in NEW ORLEANS - ”Love for sale” with Clarence Johnson III, “Tripp to New Orleans” with Johnny Vidakovich and Ed Wise and “Bop it up” with Wendell Brunious,Brice Winston, Bill Huntington and Jason Marsalis.

Vahagn participated in many international jazz festivals such as Jazz Jamboree, St. Petersburg International Jazz Festival, Moscow vocal International Jazz Festival (in 1997, 1998 and 1999, accordingly), New Orleans Jazz Fest du Maurier, Montreal Jazz Festival etc.

Pianist Daniel Kramer is an art-director of many Russian jazz festivals taking place in Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Perm, Surgut, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Suzdal, Ufa, Saratov, he gives lessons at the Moscow State Conservatory, Central Music School, being also Chairman of the Variety and Jazz Department at the Modern Art University in Moscow. D. Kramer is the establisher of existing for a long time unique touring subscription "Jazz Music at Academic Halls" enjoying great success in many cities of Russia. His touring activity outside Russia is also highly intensive including both genuine jazz concerts and performances with well-known violinist Didier Lockwood, and concerts with foreign symphonic orchestras, taking part in jazz and academic music vestivals as well as cooperation with various European performers and bands.

Daniel Kramer is also engaged in organization and holding of professional jazz contests in Russia. For example, he established professional youth jazz contest taking place in Saratov. In March, 2005 Moscow Pavel Slobodkin Concert Hall for the first time in Russia welcomed the First International Jazz Pianists Contest whose initiatives and organizers were P.Ya.Slobodkin and D. Kramer. Daniel Kramer was named Chairman of the Jury whose members were the most known pianists from different European and Russian countries.
