Alexey Kozlov & Dmitriy Ilugdin - Rethought Classic

The album is a result of mutual collaboration of two musicians, who had worked together for about a decade; it is interested as a common work of two antipodes. Dmitry Ilugdin is a representative of the new generation of... ... jazz improvisators who had got higher professional education and who had matured in the situation of the maximum full freedom of creative work. In the conditions like these many talented people sometimes lose motivation that whips the desire to create against the rules. And the gift cannot be developed in full scope - it is not the case of Dmitry Ilugdin. Alexey Kozlov, in contrast to Dmitry, mastered everything himself, without help of professional teachers: to play saxophone, to decipher jazz harmonies, to make arrangements and write music. He started doing it back in Stalin times when jazz was considered as a hostile art and the saxophone was compared to bandit’s knife. Therefore, listening to the album tracks, one is amazed by variety of fancy interlaces in the world of contemporary music.”
